Dr. John T. McElveen, Jr. MD
Otologist/Neurotologist
Dr. McElveen has practiced otology and neurotology for over 30 years and is currently the president of the Carolina Ear and Hearing Clinic and Director of the Carolina Ear Research Institute in Raleigh, NC. Dr. McElveen completed his residency at Stanford Medical Center and his Neurotology Fellowship at the House Ear Clinic/Institute. He served as the director of Otology and Neurotology at Duke University Medical Center before setting up his private Otology/Neurotology practice in Raleigh, NC.
Dr. McElveen is a member of the American Neurotology Society, the American Otologic Society and the Triological Society. He has served as president of the American Neurotology Society and is currently the Secretary-Treasurer for the Otosclerosis Study Group. He is actively involved in clinical research and has published over 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Over two decades ago, Dr. John T. McElveen founded Carolina Ear & Hearing Clinic, PC, a private medical and surgical practice specializing in the diseases of the ear. As experts in Otology and Neurotology, our team focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of disorders involving the ear, its related skull base structures, and specific areas of the central nervous system. Both are highly specialized areas, requiring at least five years of residency training, in addition to completion of medical school and Otology and Neurotology fellowship training.
